The office of the CEO is on Level 6 and is staffed by the Chief Executive Officer and her Executive Assistant. The incumbent CEO is Saoleititi Maeva Betham-Vaai.

The CEO leads and manages the people of the Ministry of Finance, reporting to Hon. Lautimuia Afoa Uelese Vaai, Minister of Finance, on all areas of the Ministry’s mandate.  The CEO is the primary economic and financial adviser to Cabinet through the Minister of Finance.

The Chief Executive Officer creates and communicates the Ministry’s vision and mission and leads its development, implementation and revision. She is also responsible in leading the development, implementation and monitoring of Samoa’s key national development plan (Pathway for the Development of Samoa- PDS), national budget and public accounts, working across all official sectors to ensure national outcomes in the PDS are achieved.

The CEO ensures all duties set out in the legislation governing and administered by the Ministry are strictly adhered to. Aside from high-level responsibilities to the Minister and Cabinet, the CEO also oversees the development and implementation of the Ministry’s strategic plans, helping formulate strategic objectives as well as lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the Performance Management System of the Ministry.
