The Acting Prime Minister & Minister of Finance hosted the Courtesy Visit by the new Regional Director of the ADB, 2 July, 2026
Apia, Samoa: The Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Honorable Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molioo hosted the courtesy visit by Ms Azusa Sato, the newly appointed Regional Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Pacific Sub-Regional Office in Suva Fiji.
Ms Sato was formally introduced to Honorable Mulipola as the Regional Director with oversight responsibilities for the ADB office in Apia. Discussions during the meeting focused on Samoa’s key development priorities, the current state of the economy, and areas where ADB can provide strategic support.
Honorable Mulipola expressed appreciation for ADB’s longstanding partnership and support to Samoa’s development. She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to working closely with ADB in implementing national priorities under the Pathway for the Development of Samoa 2026/27-2030/31.
Samoa is a founding member of the ADB in 1966 and has benefitted from development through grants, concessional loans, and technical assistance. The current active projects support Government’s priorities in health, finance, transport and infrastructure, environment and climate resilience.
The Government looks forward to strengthening collaboration with ADB under Ms Sato’s leadership to deliver impactful and meaning development results for the people of Samoa.
