Samoa was selected for participation in the PPCR as one of three pilot countries in a Pacific Regional Program, and nine countries worldwide in September 2009. Samoa’s Phase 1 proposal was approved in October 2010. Samoa’s Climate Resilience Investment Programme (CRIP) was approved in March 2011. The amount is USD25 million in grants.
The Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) is one of the programmes under the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF) of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) and administered by multilateral development banks and in Samoa’s case, the World Bank.
Objective: To pilot and demonstrate ways to integrate climate risk and resilience into core development policies, planning and budgeting processes at national and regional level, through increased capacity and by way of scaled-up investments.
